Florida Seeks Quick Wins in Biotech Battlefield (Source: NASVF)
Like a football team looking to get an edge as it begins a season, the state is looking for a couple of quick wins. David Sedore of the Palm Beach Post reports that in this case, the game is biotechnology, and the quick wins mean biotech companies announcing their intentions to move to Palm Beach County and the planned Florida home of The Scripps Research Institute: http://www.nasvf.org/web/allpress.nsf/pages/8449.

New developments:
9/4/03
The kick-off meeting is confirmed for FRIDAY 9/12/03 at Santa Fe Community College in Gainesville. This is an important opportunity for the consortium partners to get together before the project starts. Note that the official contract with WFI is still in discussion and will not be officially signed by the 12th. However, we would still like to meet so that we can hit the ground running when we do get the official green light. Please review the agenda below prior to the meeting.
For directions to the campus, click here.
For a campus map, click here. We will meet in Building W, room 224.
IMPORTANT: Please RSVP to Linda Nichols so she can make proper arrangements for the meeting. (Linda informs us that her e-mail is being cranky, so try your best).
If you get lost on the 12th, call the Health Sciences office at 352-395-5704.

FSRI will get in touch with FCCJ this week for management planning and contract negotiations with AWI/WFI.
PLEASE REVIEW YOUR SCHEDULES FOR A KICK-OFF MEETING ON MONDAY SEPTEMBER 8. LOCATION TBD -- POTENTIALLY AT FSRI'S OFFICES AT KENNEDY SPACE CENTER.
